The Ortiz Bio-Fuels Plan, introduced to South Carolinians in 1996 and again in 2004 can create over 5,000 new manufacturing jobs and well over 20,000 new agricultural jobs, placing SC again in the forefront among manufacturing in the US and drastically reducing our dependence on foreign oil by about 90%! Moreover, the Ortiz Economic Revitalization Plan would help create over 50,000 new, good-paying jobs in SC! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. My Carolina Parkway Plan, introduced in 2004, would create a 4-lane, direct and scenic, limited access, divided highway to allow direct and easy access to Myrtle Beach from the Upstate, starting in Anderson County! And it could be created at no additional tax burden to South Carolinians! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. The Criminal Justice and Mental Health systems in SC are in dire need of renovation in order that we may be able to provide taxpayers with better services and better protection at a lower cost! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. A comprehensive program to include community service, chain gangs and prison farms can help greatly reduce the taxpayers' costs of housing inmates, while providing SC with a proven deterrent to crime! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. And we need better laws to protect citizens' rights to equal protection and access to justice under the laws! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. Government benefits recipients, all state government employees (yes, including elected and appointed officials) should be required to participate in a mandated random drug testing program. Plain. Simple. Common Sense. Credit and Collections need to be revamped here. Companies in SC can charge consumers any interest rate they want and there needs to be a ceiling on that. Collection agencies these days harass folks even with good credit to pay on bills long since taken care of and consumers need laws with teeth to protect them against illegal and unscrupulous actions! Plain. Simple. Common Sense. I want to bring back the ideas of representation of the people in my district and of the State of SC, rather than the current trend of politicians representing a select few! Plain. Simple.
